Check a file for China’s AIGC metadata label.

This detector reads the hidden, structured label defined for AI-generated and synthetic content. It checks the file itself—not how the picture, audio, or video looks.

  • Runs locally in your browser
  • Shows the actual fields found
  • Does not turn a missing label into a verdict

What this detector looks for

China’s Cybersecurity Technology—Methods for Labeling AI-Generated and Synthetic Content (GB 45438—2025) defines a metadata field whose name or keyword includes AIGC. Inside it, a structured label can record whether the content is AI-generated, may be AI-generated, or is suspected to be AI-generated. It can also name the service provider and include IDs used to trace production and distribution.

The checker searches for that structure and reports the values carried by your copy. A Label value of 1 means the file declares the content AI-generated or synthesized; 2 means it may be; 3 means it is suspected to be. The remaining fields may identify the producer, distributor, or their content records.

Field
LabelThe file’s declared AI-generation status: 1, 2, or 3.
ContentProducerThe name or code of the generation service provider.
ProduceIDThe producer’s unique ID for this content.
ContentPropagatorThe name or code of the distribution service provider.
PropagateIDThe distributor’s unique ID for this content.
ReservedCode1 / 2Optional values that may help protect label integrity.

How to read “no label found”

It means this copy did not contain the structured metadata fields checked here. It does not mean the content is human-made. A platform may have stripped metadata, someone may have taken a screenshot, or the tool that created the content may never have written this label. Ask for the original file when the answer matters.

A found label also needs careful wording. This tool reads what the file declares; it does not contact the named provider or verify a reserved integrity value. For other clues, inspect the file with the EXIF metadata viewer or check for a signed record with the Content Credentials checker.

Why this is different from a visual AI detector

A visual detector estimates from patterns in the content and can be wrong. An implicit-label detector reads a defined piece of file metadata. That makes a found field concrete and quotable, but only for the exact file being checked. It cannot recover a label removed during export, compression, reposting, or screen capture.

The labeling rules and GB 45438—2025 took effect on September 1, 2025. The official materials cover visible labels as well as hidden file metadata and other technical labels. This page is limited to the structured file metadata label so the result stays clear.

China AIGC label questions

Does a missing label mean the file is not AI-generated?

No. The label may never have been added, or it may have been removed when the file was exported, compressed, reposted, or captured as a screenshot.

Does a found label prove who made the content?

It shows what this file declares in its metadata. This browser check does not authenticate the provider name or independently verify the complete production history.

What file types can I check?

You can choose common image, audio, video, text, JSON, and PDF files. Detection depends on the structured AIGC fields remaining readable in that copy.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The browser reads the selected file on your device and does not send it to this site.

Is this the same as detecting a hidden watermark?

No. This page reads the standardized file metadata structure. It does not decode proprietary pixel, audio, or video watermarks.
